The alternative of using Bloom is using SOLO taxonomy which is Structure of Observe Learning Outcome. The picture in figure 1.5 explains explicitly improvement of understanding of the learners in learning a subject.
This is the table that explains on SOLO taxonomy. In Malaysian cases, Bloom is preferable more than SOLO. However, there is nothing to use SOLO or any other taxonomy as long as we are fully guided ourselves.

SOLO taxonomy has five levels altogether. This is to identify the comprehension level and students’ responses for each lesson. For pre-structural, students are not really understand the lesson.
For the second part it is called uni-structural. Uni means one. Therefore, learners get one idea only where the focus is limited. At this level, students need to explore and understand more on the topic taught by the teacher.
This level, students have improved where the focus is not limited to one. They understand the concepts primarily. However, instructors still need to help and guide the students. It shows that the level of thinking is getting higher. Students are expected to think creatively and critically. It is called multistructural.
The second last level in SOLO taxonomy is relational. Students are able to relate the points of the answer into one another. Understanding is the major concern here. If the learners are relating it to the different point with one another, there will be a problem. Figure 1.5 shows that every point integrated into a structure.
The last one is extended abstract. Students are expected to abstract the information from the text. After extracting it, a new idea should be developed properly in a correct manner. This taxonomy shows the level is being upgraded from time to time to show the ability of learners to understand and use the knowledge learnt.
